Líneas de investigación:

Apnea del sueño

Cada vez hay más evidencia científica que implica al Síndrome de Apnea hipopnea del sueño como factor de riesgo para morbimortalidad cardiovascular. Mecanismos sistémicos, como la hipoxia intermitente y el estrés oxidativo, juegan un papel intermedio importante en estos resultados cardiovasculares y que podrían ser marcadores biológicos de la enfermedad. Algunas de estas vías fisiopatológicas parecen, participar también de manera decisiva en la patogénesis de otros trastornos, tales como el cáncer.

Además de ser una enfermedad muy frecuente en ambos géneros hay grupos poblacionales como las mujeres, que podrían presentar una fisiopatología de obstrucción de la vía aérea y síntomas diferentes con consecuencias cardiovasculares similares, que no ha sido del todo estudiados, ni tampoco existe evidencia científica sobre la eficacia del tratamiento con CPAP.

Las líneas de investigación están relacionadas con estos ámbitos participando en proyectos internacionales como la relación entre la insuficiencia cardiaca y la apnea del sueño y nacionales que relaciona al SAHS con el melanoma y las mujeres.

Recientemente se va a incorporar a un proyecto multicéntrico de telemonitorización en pacientes con terapias respiratorias

EPOC

La línea de trabajo en EPOC se dirige hacia la identificación de los biomarcadores claves en el desarrollo o progresión de la enfermedad y su traslación a la clínica.
